State Representative-Governor in Imereti Region – Shavlego Tabatadze finished the introductory meetings with municipalities. Today the Governor met with the representatives of Kutaisi local self-government, who briefed him on ongoing projects and state-funded programs. Kutaisi Mayor – Giorgi Chigvaria informed the Governor on the planned infrastructural projects in 2019.

“Firstly, I would like to stress that the region needs strategic development plan. It is important to establish a working group for such strategy document, in a timely manner. In today’s session I was briefed about finished and ongoing projects in Kutaisi. I find it encouraging that more projects are being implemented this year compared to the 2017, but this is not enough. The city needs numerous large-scale projects in order to develop and become more attractive, both for locals and tourists. Kutaisi is the largest municipality in Imereti and, consequently, it faces more challenges. We should respond to these challenges adequately and take care of the well-being of our citizens. Today I finished meetings with all 12 Imereti municipalities and I have my vision how to improve their individual efficiency. To this end, there should be organized public discussions on major projects, involving all stakeholders, define priorities, needs. Government and public should work together based on the principles of group-work.”- stated the governor.
