THE STATE REPRESENTATIVE ADMINISTRATION

Gelati Monastery, a medieval monastic complex near Kutaisi, in the Imereti region is undergoing restoration works within the frames of its conservation plan. The surrounding area of the historic monument is also being renovated.

With the financial support of the World Bank, Municipal Development Fund and the US Embassy Cultural Heritage Protection Fund, important steps have already been taken towards conservation and rehabilitation of the monument. 

The State Representative-Governor in Imereti Region - Shavlego Tabatadze and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure - Maia Tskitishvili monitored ongoing rehabilitation works.
