Today the Battle of Khresili was commemorated, which was fought in 1757, between the armies of the Kingdom of Imereti and the Ottoman Empire, ending with the decisive victory of Georgians. 260th anniversary of the Battle of Khresili was attended by the State Representative-Governor in Imereti Givi Chichinadze, his First Deputy Grigol Dalakishvili, Vice-Governor Ioseb Khakhaleishvili and majoritarian MP Elguja Gotsiridze, along with other parliamentarians.

The guests paid homage to the grave of the Saint King of Imereti Solomon I at the Gelati monastery and honored the monument depicting the scenes from the Battle of Khresili. Within the event, schoolchildren were awarded for their creative works about the battle of Khresili. After the variety of special events, the concert was arranged at the Tkibuli Theater.
