The feast day of David the Builder was celebrated in Samtredia today. In the Cathedral Church of Samtredia named after St. David the Builder Bishop of Khoni and Samtredia Metropolitan Saba made a festive liturgy. In the church yard the presentation of the arch-pastoral residence and spiritual and cultural centre was held. The foundation of the residence and the centre has been laid and the construction will be completed in 3 years. State Representative - Governor Zaza Meparishvili, also district majority MP Giorgi Kakhiani and other local authorities attended the festive liturgy. The foundation of the construction of the cathedral was laid by the Catholicos-Patriarch Illia the II 23 years ago. Construction is going by the 10-century-old method, using unique stone and samples of curving fragments from all the historical temples of Georgia. Catholicos-Patriarch Illia the II opened the Cathedral Church in2011.
