The premiere of the play ''Antigone'' directed by Vakhtang Jugheli was held in Zestafoni Theater
The premiere of the play "Antigone" based on the play by the French dramatist Jean Anouih was held in the Professional State Drama Theater named after Ushangi Chkheidze of Zestafoni. The play was staged by the director, new artistic director of the theater, Vakhtang Jugeli.
The premiere performance was attended by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, Tea Tsulukiani, and the State Representative in the Imereti, Zviad Shalamberidze, together with the representatives of the local municipality.
The main research object in the play is man as the center of the universe. The director will make the audience think about the most important values, among which we have to choose throughout our lives. What is freedom and dignity and is it the most important thing? Antigone, who must face the whole world and her uncle-king Creon all alone and become an example of self-sacrifice for generations, is not even afraid to die in the fight for moral principles.
After the premiere of "Antigone", starting from April 1, Zestafoni Theater will host a "Theatrical Week". Capital and regional theaters will take part in this theatrical celebration.
As it is known, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia and the City Hall of Zestafoni Municipality, Zestafoni Theater hosts four weeks during the year.
