tHE State Representative in Imereti Zviad Shalamberidze and Givi Chichinadze, Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iran in the Parliament of Georgia, met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia, Mahmud Adibi.

At the meeting held in the administration of the State Representative, the parties discussed the prospects of bilateral economic, cultural, tourist and, in general, future cooperation in various directions.

During the meeting, the governor noted that Imereti is a rich and interesting region with natural resources, it also has great tourism potential and stands out from the point of view of agriculture.

"The area of Imereti is significantly distinguished by the variety of mineral resources available on the territory of Georgia. The region is also attractive with the abundance of cultural and natural monuments, which makes the country even more attractive for tourists. Considering the increased number of passengers at Kutaisi airport, it is easy to understand that this area is interesting for visitors. I would also like to mention that in 2023 large-scale rehabilitation works are planned at Kutaisi Airport, the total investment budget of which will be 47 million GEL. Within the framework of the project, the design of a new 3.5 km long runway will be completed, the planned rehabilitation of three-lane roads and the platform will be carried out, a new parking lot for 400 vehicles will be built, and light signaling systems corresponding to international standards will be updated and installed. In addition to the number of visitors, the mentioned project will also contribute to the deepening of trade relations with different countries.

Also, I want to tell you that Imereti is also interesting in terms of education. Kutaisi is truly an educational hub. In the city, we have three large universities, one of which is an international university with an investment of one billion euros. The educational process at the university is conducted in English and students are taught by world-class guest professors. A Hadronic Therapy Center is being built on the base of the same university, which will allow us to introduce new methods of cancer treatment and save many lives.

In addition, Imereti stands out in the highly developed agricultural direction, the region makes a significant contribution to the development of agriculture. So, the mentioned region is attractive for any visitor and ideal for investment" - Zviad Shalamberidze.

At the meeting, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed his readiness to deepen mutual cooperation.
