5 projects will be implemented in Imereti within the framework of the Pilot Integrated Regional Development Program. A session of the Regional Advisory Council was held in the administration of the State Representative in Imereti. The meeting, chaired by State Representative Zviad Shalamberidze, was attended by First Deputy Ioseb Khakhaleishvili, Mayors of Imereti Region Municipalities and Chairmens of Imereti region Municipalities Assembly. The main topic of discussion of Regional Advisory Council was the reviewing of selected projects under the Pilot Integrated Regional Development Program. Four regions of Georgia, including Imereti, participate in the Pilot Integrated Regional Development Program for 2020-2022. Out of the applications submitted by the municipalities, a total of five projects received appropriate support and funding. In Sachkhere and Samtredia municipalities, squares will be arranged in tourist-attractive places, road rehabilitation will be carried out in Vani and Tkibuli, as well as in tourist locations, and business meetings and a tourist center will be built in Baghdati municipality. Each project was evaluated by a team of specialists before being presented to the Regional Advisory Council. The budget of the program for 2020 is 5 million GEL, of which 2,188,000 GEL is provided for the Imereti region. One of the priorities of the competition is "Arrangement of infrastructure to support local business development." The expected results after the implementation of the winning projects are: increasing the attractiveness of the region for business and visitors, improving the quality of life and promoting the creation of new work places. This program is an integrated regional development policy document developed in line with modern EU approaches.
