State Representative in Imereti Zviad Shalamberidze and Mayor of Chiatura Givi Modebadze visited Akaki Iobashvili, a World War II veteran and honorary citizen of Chiatura, and congratulated him on Victory Day over fascism. At the age of 17, when he was called to the front, he fought in the division of Porphyre Chanchibadze, who was defending the city of Voroshilovgrad. In 1944 returned to homeland wounded. Initially he worked in various positions in the manganese industry. In 1957, by the decision of the then Bureau of the District Committee, he was appointed Chairman of the Zodi collective farm, which he headed for 51 years. Akaki Iobashvili has been awarded many government awards.
