Zviad Shalamberidze, acting Imereti State representative met with Lasha Shalamberidze, Head of the Coordination Staff of the Fight against the brown marmorated stink bug and Nika Meskhi, Head of Plant Protection Department.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy State Representative: Ioseb Khakhaleishvili and Besik Gofodze, representatives of the Coordination Management Center for the fight against the brown marmorated stink bug and Monitoring Group.

At the meeting was discused the subjects regarding the state programes for the fight against the brown marmorated stink bug of the current year and the future plans. They also discussed the role of local authorities and self-government units in the fight against pests. They noted that maximum results can be achieved through joint efforts and active involvement of the population.

In the Imereti region actions of preventing of the fight against the brown marmorated stink bug are being actively pursued.The homestead areas are processing with thermal fog technology and the arable lands with cold spraying technology, "Attract and Destroy" stations are installed on the forest perimeter, pheromones are being placed for monitored purposes. Bee protection measures are planned in coordination with beekeeping farmers.

As of today, in Imereti region, 19 710 ha of land have been processed by thermal fog technology and by Cold spraying method 7 727, 25 ha area. 20 625 "Attract and Destroy" station and 1 343 Monitoring Pheromones.
