On February 8, King David the Builder Day is celebrated. Various events were held in Kutaisi to celebrate this day. Shavlego Tabatadze, State Representative in Imereti, together with local authorities adorned the monument of David the Builder and then attended the activities held in Gelati.

"I congratulate King David the Builder Day to all of Georgia. The name of King David the Builder is the epoch of Georgia's development - the unification of the country, rebuilding and great fighting victories. During thirty-six years of reigning, he made Georgia the most powerful state in the region. His kingship marked the beginning of the golden age for Georgia. The Georgian Orthodox Church has canonized King David as the Saint for his greatest contribution to the country and the nation. This day is especially celebrated in Kutaisi and we honored the monument of King David the Builder. We have also paid tribute to his grave in Gelati Monastery "- Shavlego Tabatadze.
