Shavlego Tabatadze – Every Layer of Society Matter in the Fight against Pests
The meetings are underway in Imereti Region in order to familiarize with the measures and methods of fighting brown marmorated stink bug. Governor of Imereti Shavlego Tabatadze, together with the specialists from the National Food Agency and representatives from Coordination HQ met with Tskaltubo municipality residents. The local youth is actively involved in the information campaign. Within the campaign the population will be informed about the best practices of fighting the pests.
“The Government carries out large-scale measures against the pests. This is the challenge to the agricultural sector and it is important to include all the self-governing units, youth and general public in anti-pest activities. We should not postpone these activities in order to reduce the number of pests and, consequently, the economic damage from them” – stated Shavlego Tabatadze.
In 2018, within the scope of the anti-pest state programs, 233.000 hectares were processed in Imereti Region. The activities took place in Baghdati, Samtredia, Khoni, Vani, Tskaltubo, Zestaponi, Tkibuli, Terjola, Kharagauli, Sachkhere and Kutaisi municipalities.
Totally, 710.000 hectares were cultivated with cold spray and thermal fuels in Western Georgia.
